BORYEONG CITY, SOUTH KOREA – South Korea’s highly anticipated Boryeong Mud Festival will return for its 29th year at Daecheon Beach from July 24 through August 9, 2026. Promising 17 days of immersive mud experiences, star-studded K-culture performances, and expanded nighttime attractions, the festival continues its legacy as one of Asia’s premier summer events. This year, improved shuttle transport options will make the coastal destination more accessible than ever for international visitors.
Operating under the slogan, “Let’s go to Boryeong, let’s play with mud,” the event transforms the coastal city into a vibrant hub of interactive activities, live music, and local tourism.
Mud, Music, and Coastal Energy
Centered around Boryeong’s mineral-rich coastal mud, the festival is famous for encouraging active participation rather than passive observation.
• The Mud Experience Zone: Located at the Boryeong Mud Expo Plaza, this main area will host mud pools, slides, obstacle courses, and water play areas suitable for adults, families, and group travelers.
• The Mud Cask Zone: A newly introduced area at Mud Plaza offering a laid-back beachside experience, seamlessly blending self-guided mud activities with music and panoramic ocean views.
• Beauty and Wellness: Visitors can also explore Boryeong’s local products, mud cosmetics, food zones, and cultural experience areas throughout the grounds.
A Premier Entertainment Lineup
The 2026 festival places South Korean performance culture at the forefront. Most major stage programs will take place at the Mud Expo Plaza Special Stage, positioning the event as both a mud festival and a massive summer music destination.
• Live Concerts: Highlights include the Super K-POP Concert, K-Hip-Hop Festival, Mud Rock Festa, Big Mud Show, 8090 Concert, Mud Song Festival, and a closing K-Trot Festival.
• Aerial Displays: The Republic of Korea Air Force Black Eagles will perform a stunning visual air show over Daecheon Beach during the opening weekend, drawing aviation fans and tourists alike.
• Nighttime Attractions: The festival extends into the evening with the Mud Night Parade connecting the car-free streets, beachside drone light shows over the sea, and live Mud Busking across Noeul, Meeting, and Mud Plazas.
Enhanced Accessibility for International Tourists
To accommodate the growing number of global attendees, the festival has partnered with Kakao Mobility’s global platform, k.ride. A dedicated shuttle service will operate throughout the festival (excluding August 5), offering direct routes from five major Seoul-area departure points: Sadang Station, Seoul Station, Jamsil Station, Hapjeong Station, and Pyeongtaek Base.
The k.ride app is designed to reduce transportation barriers for foreign travelers, featuring automatic in-app translation in approximately 100 languages. It also supports international payment methods, including overseas-issued credit/debit cards and Alipay Plus. Domestic travelers can utilize Kakao T to book shuttles from 16 regional departure points across South Korea.
